FAQs

How Often Should a Website Health Check Be Done?

Most business websites should have a health check at least monthly, although the right frequency depends on how important the website is and how often it changes. A busy ecommerce site, booking system, membership site, or high-traffic business website may need more frequent checks than a small brochure site.

A website that rarely changes can still develop problems. Hosting environments update, PHP versions change, SSL certificates expire, plugins become vulnerable, and third-party services can stop working. Even if nobody has edited the site, the wider environment around it continues to move.

Monthly health checks are often a practical starting point because they catch outdated software, backup problems, form failures, security warnings, performance issues, and error logs before they build up. For sites that handle payments, customer data, or regular enquiries, more frequent monitoring and maintenance may be sensible.

It is also worth carrying out a health check after major changes. This includes plugin updates, theme changes, migrations, server upgrades, domain changes, new forms, checkout changes, or new tracking scripts. Many website problems begin immediately after a change but are not discovered until much later.

Web911 can provide routine website health checks to help keep your site stable, secure, and working as expected. Regular checks are usually cheaper and less stressful than emergency repairs after something has already failed.
